The procession of the Dead Christ is organized by the Confraternita del Gonfalone since the second half of the nineteenth century.
The procession starts in the evening from the Church of the Star, in Piazza Leandra, and crosses the streets of the city center.
Hundreds of white-clad penitents walk barefoot carrying heavy crosses and chains (fastened to the ankles) that produce a striking sound.
The following Sunday there is the conclusion of Easter with the mini procession of the Risen Christ in the historic center.
