In Civitavecchia, as every year, the feast of St. John is celebrated with the traditional “lumacata”: an event deeply felt by the citizens, but now appreciated by many visitors, who arrive in large numbers to taste snails cooked according to the typical Civitavecchia recipe.
The snail, a lunar symbol, known since ancient times, indicates regeneration, rebirth and therefore is the protagonist of one of the shortest nights of the year.
On June 23, from 8:30 p.m., in Via Trieste.
