La Chiesa di San Giovanni di Dio

The small Church of San Giovanni di Dio is located in the center of the large facade of the Ospedale Vecchio, on Piazza Calamatta.
The building, no longer used for worship and therefore devoid of furnishings, retains some frescoes by unknown author, as well as beautiful stuccoes of the ‘700 attributable to Giacomo Serpotta, the eponymous family of stucco craftsmen, as evidenced by the lizard found among the decorations, “signature” of the artist.
Currently the Church is not a place of worship and is used by the municipality for cultural events.
